Have a cup where Papakape first began, in Palanan, the founder’s own neighborhood. Tucked inside a quiet barangay in Makati, this branch carries the warmth of familiar streets, outdoor seats, and everyday neighborhood life. It first opened during the pandemic, at a time when people were looking for small ways to breathe, connect, and feel less alone. Palanan became that space.
A little surprise in the middle of the barangay where neighbors, friends, passersby, and cyclists could pause for a while over
a good cup of coffee. During the pandemic, it also became a go-to stop for the bike community: a place to rest after a ride, park outside,
and share stories from a safe distance.
One of its defining touches is ginger-infused coffee, rooted in an old Filipino practice of adding smashed ginger to black coffee for warmth, aroma, and comfort. It reflects the heart of Papakape Palanan: familiar, thoughtful, and quietly caring. More than the first branch,
Papakape Palanan is the beginning of the story. It is home first, café second: a place shaped by community, memory, and the
simple comfort of being welcomed back.
