THE FIRST LOCAL COFFEE OF PAPAKAPE
LEON, ILOILO, PHILIPPINES
“Kaing”, bamboo harvest baskets, are at the heart of the municipality's annual fiesta. These baskets are filled with sweet mangoes, sour batuan fruit, and fresh produce from the rich and bountiful land of Leon, truly worthy of its title as the “The Vegetable Basket of the Province of Iloilo”.
Nestled at the foot of the Bucari Mountain Range, is the quaint community of Brgy. Camandag - a true paradise graced by a refreshing climate, cradled within verdant forests, and blessed with the crystalline gift of spring water flowing from the pristine Imoy Falls. Within this idyllic setting, a hidden gem awaits discovery: wild coffee trees.
This well-kept secret unfolds its wonders once a year, between November and February, the community comes together to harvest these precious coffee beans. It is with great pride and joy that we present to you the fruits of their labor - select robusta coffee beans that carry within them the essence of the land and its people.
In each cup of this exceptional coffee, you'll find a harmonious blend of nature's finest offerings, a sip of the untamed wilderness and the labor of a community that cherishes its land.
Join us in savoring this rare gift harvested by the people of Leon!
The coffee beans were harvested by the Caalem family and their neighbors from the wild Robusta trees growing in the forest around the community.
The careful roasting process ensures that you experience the full spectrum of flavors in every sip. The beans are roasted by our partner roastery, Kape Natividad.
The flavor notes of Leon beans are reminiscent of local market finds and beloved Filipino street staples such as peanut butter, taho (combination of soy and arnibal) and toasted grains.
